On the 26th of May I submitted my final drama, It was required to be between 4-8 minutes. Mine came to exactly 8. My film is about a couple who breaks up and it is about the decision to let go of the relationship for the better of both and the bumpy process that is that realisation. Stylistically I decided to have the camera like a documentary crew f

following around this couple about their home, I wrote directed and edited the piece. The film is very contained as it takes place in one location the two characters apartment. A choice made to suffocate the audience even more. Over the course of a month I went through an edit makin. g cuts and further cementing my docu-jumpy style I envisioned.
This film is by far the best thing I have made, I feel like this film with a script that felt raw was further cemented through a distinctive style I think I am going to follow for future films, I believe it has developed creatively the stories I want to tell and inspired me to pursue those stories. Technically it improved me a lot when filming with a distinctive style like one of a fictional documentary crew a lot of planning had to go into it, and I believe it paid off also with the smash cut editing style I chose to tell the story taught me a lot about pacing and the process of film viewing and how essential it is to establish. In terms of directing To be able to pull out the two performances from the two leads was a really fun experience and very rewarding after watching the final product and when working with extras managing that crowd was a fun make or break experience that ran extremely smooth.
I learned a lot about myself as a person through this process, I discovered the artist who I want to be and how I want to tell those stories. I learned that I truly am. Passionate for writing and then I also enjoy just as much directing and bringing those stories to life. In. hindsight of our screening when editing I would next time edit on a bigger monitor and through better professional speakers as for some reason the audio and colour were diluted on the big projector.
